Encrypted DNS (DoH and DoT) Explained

Every time you visit a website, your device performs a DNS lookup. By default, that lookup is not encrypted, so networks can see which domains you request.
What DoH and DoT do
DNS over HTTPS (DoH) and DNS over TLS (DoT) wrap DNS requests in encryption. Local networks can no longer read or alter them easily.
What they do not hide
Your DNS provider still sees the domains you request, and the destination IP address is still visible to your internet provider.
How to enable it
- Turn on secure DNS in your browser settings.
- Enable private DNS in Android settings.
- Use a trusted resolver, such as your VPN provider or a reputable public service.
Key takeaway: Encrypted DNS improves privacy on local networks. Choose a resolver you trust.
